Things are about to get even busier than usual since my dad is visiting. It’s already been a challenge since my brother has moved into my place, but since he needs to get on the healthy lifestyle train, the food thing hasn’t been too big of an issue. It’s a complete other story with my dad who likes to eat ‘good food.’ His definition of good food is the one that got me overweight in the first place. Now my definition has changed, but his hasn’t. We often have a lot of arguments over food because my idea of what is good and healthy doesn’t match what he wants to eat. My house doesn’t have junk food, which he finds frustrating.

It’s so much easier when you just have to worry about yourself in terms of what you want to eat and what foods to prepare. Thinking about others who are not on the challenge makes it more challenging.

All of a sudden I found myself in the bread aisle (it has been so long since I have eaten bread that I forgot where the aisle was!!). It felt weird. Still, I have to remember that I cannot control others around me, and just because they are eating something that I don’t want to have as part of my diet, doesn’t mean that I have to partake.

This upcoming week will be more challenging — but getting through this week successfully will make it feel that much more gratifying.
