I woke up feeling excited. This is it! Finally I’m taking that next big step and working on watching what I eat. I’ve tried to be careful with my eating habits for the past two years. I’ve improved, but let’s be honest – I still have a long way to go. I still had a ‘one won’t hurt’ mentality, and even though I’m lucky the ‘one’ didn’t turn into a binge, there were several ‘ones’ … and they add up!
Ever since starting CrossFit I’ve been better, especially in the past month or so. I so badly want to improve my performance, and I know that aside from practice, watching what I eat will help me tremendously … and dropping some weight will definitely help me move towards a pull-up!
So, Day 1 is pretty much done. The nutritional aspect, which is what I was most worried about, went well. I know had I not been on the challenge I would have probably had a whole wheat pita with my dinner tonight followed by something sweet. I didn’t miss not having them. Whew!
I completed the preliminary workout at our CrossFit Box (CrossFit Q8). I had to make slight modifications due to equipment and space restrictions. I used a 10kg kettlebell and I did my run on the treadmill we’ve got at the Box (no outdoor space for the run).
I completed 5 rounds plus got through half of my 6th (ended at the 6th burpee) when time was called.
Those burpees sure do knock the wind out of me. I’ve never followed burpees with a run! It was a good challenge, and I can’t wait to see how I do at the end of 8 weeks!
- Fish Oil — Taken 🙂
- Mobilization – yoga + static stretching for 15 minutes
- Workout – CrossFit – did strength and conditioning + today’s preliminary workout
- Nutrition – No problems here (1 banana for breakfast, 1/2 cup pineapple for a snack, grilled shrimp salad for lunch, cup of green tea for a snack, vegetable medley for dinner, 4 strawberries after dinner)
- Challenge preliminary workout: 9 min AMRAP: 7 kettlebell swings, 7 burpees, 50 meter run — I managed 5.5 rounds. I had just completed my 6th burpee in the middle of round 6 when time was called. I definitely hope I improve when we repeat this challenge in 8 weeks!
